Parliament Hill Calendar: Events and Ministers’ Schedules
- 9:00 a.m. – Ottawa, ON: The Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Indigenous Services, together with Natan Obed, President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), will announce a target date for the elimination of tuberculosis (TB) across Inuit Nunangat. The announcement will take place on the eve of World Tuberculosis Day. Rates of TB among Inuit were more than 290 times higher than in the Canadian-born, non-Indigenous population in 2016 and have been trending upwards.
- 10:00 a.m. – Sudbury, ON: Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, and Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, will be at NORCAT to make an important FedNor announcement to support key sectors of Northern Ontario’s economy.
- 3:00 p.m. – Yellowknife, NWT: Michael McLeod, Member of Parliament for Northwest Territories, together with the Honourable Alfred Moses, Minister of Education, Culture and Employment for Northwest Territories, will make an important announcement of benefit to families in the Northwest Territories.
- The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, will be in Vancouver this weekend to participate in the JUNO Awards, as well as other events. Her trip will begin with a historic funding announcement for Arts Umbrella. She will then deliver opening remarks at the event “Fearless: Inspiring Music Industry Women and their Careers.” Finally, she will present awards at both the JUNO Gala Dinner and the JUNO Awards.
