Agri-business expert Amanda Brodhagen joins Pathway Group
Pathway Group is delighted to welcome Amanda Brodhagen to our team. Brodhagen will be working closely with Pathway Group VP Kirsten Krose, head of our London office.
“Agriculture is an important industry in London-Middlesex, and throughout southwestern Ontario,” says Krose. “As someone who has worked in the industry and in government, Amanda brings real value to our agricultural clients.”
Brodhagen grew up on her family’s beef cattle farm and calls rural Ontario home. Since graduating from the University of Guelph with an Hon B.A Political Science in 2012, she has held numerous positions in the agricultural sector, including communications positions with Farms.com, VG Meats and the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association.
She served as President of the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, Canadian Chapter while at the University of Guelph, and still covers the agricultural beat as a freelance journalist and regular contributor for The Rural Voice Magazine.
Brodhagen also brings considerable political experience to the Pathway team. She has worked as a Policy Intern for the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Since December 2018, she has served as a councillor for the Township of Perth East.
Brodhagen notes that Ontario’s agricultural and agri-food sector is one of the largest economic drivers in the province. The sector employs more than 807,000 people, accounting for one in eight jobs in Ontario and contributing $37 billion to the economy. “It’s everyone from family farms to agri-business and those involved in the food and beverage industries,” she says.
“There are tremendous opportunities for the agricultural sector to engage with government, both provincially and federally,” says Brodhagen. “I look forward to working with Pathway Group to help build meaningful relationships between industry stakeholders and the government so we can advance the sector as a whole.”
