Pathway Group Associate Appointed to Ontario Livestock Financial Protection Board

Pathway Group is pleased to announce that Amanda Brodhagen, head of its agriculture and agri-food practice group, has been appointed as a member of the Ontario Livestock Financial Protection Board.

The board collects fees, administers a compensation fund, and approves claims made against the fund. The fund was set up under the Ontario Beef Cattle Financial Protection Program to protect producers and other sellers of beef cattle in the event of defaults on payment by licensed buyers. Growing up on a beef farm in southwestern Ontario, Amanda has in-depth knowledge of the agriculture sector and is excited to give back to the industry that raised her.

As a member of Ontario’s farming community, Amanda has first-hand experience working in and for the agricultural industry. In addition to her family’s farm, she has worked with the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association, GROWMARK Inc., Yantzi’s Feed & Seed Ltd., and VG Meats. She is also an agricultural communicator and was the Assistant Editor of Farms.com, Digital Marketing Manager for The Grower, President of the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, and continues to be a regular contributor to The Rural Voice magazine.

Amanda worked as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and previously as a policy intern on the Canadian Wheat Board file for then Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

She has volunteered with the Perth County Plowmen’s Association, the Junior Farmers‘ Association of Ontario, the Canadian Beef Industry Conference, and the Listowel Agricultural Society as a Fair Ambassador. In 2018, Amanda was appointed for a one-year term to be an Ag More Than Ever Ambassador for Ontario – an industry cause that aims to improve the perceptions of Canadian agriculture. She is also a proud alumnus of 4-H, Junior Farmers, and the Cattlemen’s Young Leaders Program
