Tim Dobbie’s career has involved working for and with municipalities across Ontario. For 34 years Tim worked for the City of Burlington in 11 different positions. In the last position for 12 years, Tim was Burlington’s City Manager. Tim also held the position of General Manager responsible for planning, engineering and building departments as well as economic development. Tim held this position during a rapid growth phase for the City of Burlington. Other positions included Traffic Engineer, Transit Manager, Director of Public Works, City Engineer, and General Manager of Community Services overseeing parks, recreation and fire.

Tim opened his own consulting firm upon his retirement from the City of Burlington and is currently working on his 16th year of the consulting business. Tim has been employed as a consultant throughout Ontario by municipalities and his firm has specialized in carrying out the following work: organizational reviews for municipalities, development application processing reviews, service delivery reviews, assisting municipalities in improving staff/Council relations, mentoring of CAOs and senior management teams as well as recruiting candidates for both the CAO level as well as the senior management team members. Tim has achieved success in the work with municipalities by maintaining a solid relationship with many CAOs around Ontario in general and in particular maintaining a strong relationship with the Ontario Municipal Administrators Association (OMAA). Tim is a lifetime member of the OMAA has been a past board member and past president. Tim was honored in 2016 to receive the Robert Baldwin Award which is the OMAA highest award.

As a consultant Tim has worked with private sector companies who have approached Tim L Dobbie Consulting to assist the private company with a particular relationship issue with a given municipality. Tim has been quite successful in this area of his consulting business.

Tim is excited about becoming an associate of the Pathway Group and feels that his relationships with CAOs and senior management team members across Ontario will prove to be very useful for the Pathway Group organization.

Tim lives in the City of Burlington where he has continually volunteered for not-for-profit community groups over his years as a municipal employee and consultant and has worked on the boards of the following organizations: the Hamilton Burlington United Way, the Burlington – Hamilton YMCA, the Burlington Community Foundation, the Amity Goodwill group and currently is vice chair of the Museums of Burlington Foundation.
