Parliament Hill Calendar: Events and Ministers’ Schedules

  • 8:30 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Sport, and the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development, will highlight major investments in the Canada Research Chairs Program to attract and retain the world’s best and brightest research talent at universities in Quebec.
  • 9:00 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: Defence Minister Harjit S. Sajjan and Parliamentary Secretary Serge Cormier will mark the completion of a new Armoury at Saint-Hubert Garrison. Followed by a short visit of 438 Tactical Helicopter Squadron.
  • 9:30 a.m. – Victoriaville, QC: The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, will make an announcement.
  • 9:30 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, will tour Sherbrooke’s public transit bus garage.
  • 9:30 a.m. – St. Andrews, NB: Marco Mendicino, Parliamentary Secretary to François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, will tour the New Brunswick Community College St. Andrews’ Trades Class with New Brunswick Southwest MP Karen Ludwig.
  • 10:00 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Seniors, will deliver a speech following a tour of Université de Sherbrooke’s Research Centre on Aging. Minister Tassi will be joined by the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, and Member of Parliament for Compton—Stanstead.
  • 10:00 a.m. – Ottawa, ON: The Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, will make an announcement related to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Minister Goodale will be joined by Brenda Lucki, Commissioner of the RCMP and Mona Fortier, Member of Parliament for Ottawa–Vanier.
  • 10:15 a.m. – Wendake, QC: An important announcement with the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, and Grand Chief Konrad Sioui, of Huron-Wendat Nation.
  • 10:30 a.m. – St. John’s, NL: Nick Whalen, Member of Parliament for St. John’s East, will make an announcement related to business innovation.
  • 10:45 a.m. – St. Andrews, NB: Marco Mendicino, Parliamentary Secretary to François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, will tour the Minister’s Island with New Brunswick Southwest MP Karen Ludwig
  • 11:15 a.m. – Repentigny, QC: The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with business leaders and workers at Grandchamp Chapiteaux and participate in a site visit.
  • 11:30 a.m. – St. Andrews, NB: Marco Mendicino, Parliamentary Secretary to François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, will tour the W.C. O’Neill Arena with New Brunswick Southwest MP Karen Ludwig.
  • 11:30 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will participate in an armchair discussion at the University of Sherbrooke to discuss climate action in Quebec and across the country, as well as the huge economic opportunity of clean growth. Minister McKenna will also tour the university’s civil engineering and biotech labs.
  • 11:30 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, will address the Sherbrooke Chamber of Commerce.
  • 12:00 p.m. – Montreal, QC: The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, will be available to media following a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, discussing how the Government of Canada can help employers in Montreal continue to grow their businesses and the economy.
  • 1:00 p.m. – Halifax, NS: Andy Fillmore, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism and Member of Parliament for Halifax, will make an announcement concerning an innovation project that will link established businesses with a community of innovators.
  • 1:15 p.m. – St. George, NB: Marco Mendicino, Parliamentary Secretary to François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, will participate in a roundtable with the region’s mayors.
  • 1:30 p.m. – Thetford Mines, QC: The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, will visit the Musée Minéralogique de Thetford Mines to make an announcement.
  • 1:45 p.m.  – Sherbrooke, QC: Defence Minister Harjit S. Sajjan and Minister of International Development, Marie-Claude Bibeau, will announce the contract awards from the Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program’s first call for proposals for Competitive Projects at the Université de Sherbrooke.
  • 1:45 p.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, will announce financial support for Eagle Vizion, Oneka Technologies, G.E. Gilbert Inc., and Energy Solutions Associates (ESA).
  • 5:30 p.m. – Norman Wells, NWT: Marc Miller, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, the Government of the Northwest Territories and representatives from the Norman Wells Land Corporation, will participate in a special event to acknowledge the signing of the Self-Government Agreement-in-Principle for the Sahtu Dene and Metis of Norman Wells.

Prime Minister’s Itinerary

  • 1:00 p.m. The Prime Minister will participate in a meeting of the Prime Minister’s Youth Council.
  • 6:45 p.m. The Prime Minister will attend a Cabinet Retreat working session.
