Parliament Hill Calendar: Events and Ministers’ Schedules

  • 8:30 a.m. – Calgary, AB: The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, will attend the Energy Futures Lab Summit and participate in a Fireside Chat with Bill Whitelaw, President and Chief Executive Officer of JWN Energy.
  • 9:00 a.m. – Langley, BC: The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Seniors, will meet with stakeholders and visit the Langley Seniors Resource Centre.
  • 9:30 a.m. – Whitehorse, YT: The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport will make an announcement at Yukon College. The announcement will be followed by a tour of the College.
  • 9:30 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, will have coffee with the Fédération des communautés culturelles de l’Estrie (FCCE)
  • 9:30 a.m. – Victoria, BC: The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will meet with mechanical engineering students from the University of Victoria to discuss clean energy and technology and the transition to a low-carbon, clean-growth economy. Following her discussion with students, Minister McKenna will meet with Environment and Climate Change Canada’s scientists to profile their work on climate change and participate in a tour of the University’s District Energy Plant.

The Minister will also meet with a representative from the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium, which is collaborating with the Canadian Centre for Climate Services to deliver climate expertise to Canadians. Media are invited for a photo opportunity.

  • 10:00 a.m. – Dartmouth, NS: Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour, will make an announcement supporting innovation and job creation in the telecommunications sector.
  • 10:00 a.m. – Lower Sackville, NS: An important infrastructure event regarding the Sack-a-wa Multipurpose Training Facility with Darrell Samson, Member of Parliament for Sackville–Preston–Chezzetcook, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; the Honourable Stephen McNeil, Premier of Nova Scotia; and Steve Craig, Councillor for District 15, Lower Sackville, Halifax Regional Municipality.
  • 10:15 a.m. – Calgary, AB: The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Natural Resources, will announce funding for multiple clean technology companies with the potential to transform Canada’s environment and economic prosperity.
  • 10:45 a.m. – Sherbrooke, QC: The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism and Member of Parliament for Honoré–Mercier, accompanied by the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and Member of Parliament for Compton—Stanstead will announce how the Government of Canada is helping young Canadians and immigrants in Québec and Ontario get skills training and increased job opportunities.
  • 11:00 a.m. – Sussex, NB: Alaina Lockhart, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie and Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal, will make a funding announcement for Kings County Mechanical Ltd.
  • 11:00 a.m. – Moncton, NB: The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, will make a funding announcement for Picomole Inc.
  • 11:00 a.m. – Whitehorse, YT: The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport will meet with Sandy Silver, Premier of Yukon and Richard Mostyn, Minister of Highways and Public Works, Government of Yukon.
  • 11:00 a.m. – Edmonton, AB: Randy Boissonnault, Member of Parliament for Edmonton Centre and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on LGBTQ2 Issues, will announce federal funding to enhance international investment in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
  • 11:00 a.m. – Regina, SK: The Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Ralph Goodale, on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will announce support from the Government of Canada’s Low Carbon Economy Fund for climate action by the City of Regina.
  • 11:30 a.m. – Whitehorse, YT: The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport will give a speech at the Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference 2019 Welcome Luncheon.
  • 11:30 a.m. – Victoria, BC: Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, will deliver a keynote address at the Victoria Chamber of Commerce. The Minister will touch on the Government of Canada’s renewed approach to aquaculture, protecting wild pacific salmon and measures for the iconic Southern Resident Killer Whale.
  • 12:00 p.m. – Port Coquitlam, BC: The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Seniors, will meet with stakeholders and visit the Langley Seniors Resource Centre.
  • 12:20 p.m. – Toronto, ON: The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, will participate in a roundtable luncheon at the C.D. Howe Institute, where he will provide an important update on the Innovations and Skills Plan and talk about how Canada is building a nation of innovators.
  • 12:45 p.m. – Grandby, QC: The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, will meet with arts and culture officials of Granby Region.
  • 1:00 p.m. – Petit-de-Grat, NS: Rodger Cuzner, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour and Member of Parliament for Cape Breton – Canso, will make a funding announcement related to research in the aquaculture industry.
  • 1:00 p.m. – Mansfield-et-Pontefract, QC: William Amos, Member of Parliament for Pontiac, will announce funding for the Patro de Fort-Coulonge / Mansfield outdoor centre.
  • 1:00 p.m. – Whitehorse, YT: The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport will give welcome remarks at the Arctic Indigenous Investment Forum Opening.
  • 1:30 p.m. – Surrey, BC: The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Seniors, will make an announcement at the Seniors Come Share Society.
  • 1:45 p.m. – Nanaimo, BC: The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will meet with the Mayor of Nanaimo, Leonard Krog, for a tour of the city’s climate action initiatives.
  • 2:00 p.m. – Whitehorse, YT: The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport will meet with Dan Curtis, Mayor of the City of Whitehorse.
  • 2:45 p.m. – Ottawa, ON: Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay will speak at Canada’s Agriculture Day, where he will make a federal funding announcement in support of adaptation and competitiveness in the agricultural sector.
  • 3:00 p.m. – Whitehorse, YT: The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport will participate in a roundtable meeting with northern air operators.
  • 3:30 p.m. – Grandby, QC: The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, will visit École nationale de la Chanson.
  • 3:30 p.m. – Delta, BC: The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Seniors, will meet with stakeholders and visit KinVillage.

  • 3:30 p.m. The Prime Minister and Minister of International Trade Diversification Jim Carr will visit the Winnipeg Transit Fort Rouge Garage and make a transit infrastructure announcement.
