Parliament Hill Calendar: Ministers’ Schedules and Events

  • July 24-28 Toronto, Ontario. (EDT) Canada will host a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council (ABAC) in Toronto. The meeting is the third of the year and will bring together business leaders from Canada and other Asia-Pacific economies on matters related to trade and economic cooperation and connectivity in the APEC region in advance of the APEC leaders’ meeting in Vietnam in November. Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade, will attend the ABAC meeting to promote Canada’s progressive trade agenda and engage with representatives of businesses of all sizes on expanding and deepening Canada’s trade and investment relationships in the Asia-Pacific region. The Parliamentary Secretary will deliver remarks and participate in discussions, with a focus on the important role micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly those owned by women, can play in helping to encourage economic growth and reduce poverty across the APEC region.
  • 9:00 am (EDT) Bolton, Ontario. Rodger Cuzner, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, will make an announcement about how the Government of Canada will help local youth find and keep good jobs.
  • 9:15 a.m. (CDT) Winnipeg, Manitoba. Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, will make an announcement concerning an investment in the Lake Winnipeg Basin Program.
  • 10:00 am (EDT) Brampton, Ontario. The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, the regional development agency for southern Ontario, will make an announcement in support of community infrastructure for the City of Brampton.
  • 12:15 (CDT) Regina, Saskatchewan. The Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs and the Federation of Sovereign Nations will sign a Letter of Accord to strengthen the governance of Child and Family Services for First Nations in Saskatchewan.
  • 2:00 pm Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North, will make an announcement on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor in support of community infrastructure and planning for four local organizations in Thunder Bay.
  • 3:45 pm Ontario, Ontario. (EDT) The Honourable Jane Philpott, Federal Minister of Health, together with Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler and Ontario Minister of Health and Long Term Care Eric Hoskins will sign the Charter of Relationship Principles Governing Health System Transformation in Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Territory.
